OUR HISTORY

In 1941, Paul K. Deardorff started a business and stone quarry known as the Fayetteville Stone Company. The quarry was dismantled and permanently closed in 1948. From 1948 to 1962, the business was operated as Paul K. Deardorff, Excavation and Grading Contractor. They performed basement excavations and other private work for individuals in the area. In later years, the business expanded to include site excavations for schools, hospitals, churches, industrial and residential developments. Also started during this time was the company’s involvement in utility construction. In 1963 the business was incorporated as Paul K. Deardorff and Sons, Inc.. In 1966 a second company, Fayetteville Contractors, Inc. was incorporated to exclusively do public utility projects. These two companies were merged in 1974 with the surviving company named Fayetteville Contractors, Inc.. Paul K. Deardorff served as president of both companies until his retirement in December of 1976. In 1972 Glenn, Robert and Donald Deardorff purchased a paving business and named it Fayetteville Paving Company. The paving company was purchased by Fayetteville Contractors, Inc. in December 1976. Since 1977 Fayetteville Contractors, Inc. has diversified into asphalt manufacturing, site excavation, hauling, paving, road building, utility construction and excavation for residential and industrial developments. From 1977 to November 2018, Glenn E. Deardorff, Sr. served as president. From November 2018 to present, Laura M. Sherman has served as president of Fayetteville Contractors, Inc.

Satisfied customers are a great asset to our company and their words speak volumes when it comes to the quality and care we work hard to provide. But don’t take our word for it . . . read a few of the many complimentary comments or customers have sent us . . .

Eric, just wanted to say thanks for a job well done at both fire stations. Please relay to Mark and his crew on how pleased we were with the work that they did. Once again thanks and have a great weekend.Regards, William M. Fitzgerald Emergency Services Chief Chambersburg Fire Department
Darren, thank you for a job WELL done! Mark & his crew were outstanding . . . so meticulous to detail, cutting in around the garage, careful not to splash asphalt on siding & careful laying pavement next to my new stamped concrete sidewalk. Each man performed so well and collectively.I am extremely pleased with the finished driveway! I told the staff so but I would appreciate it if you would convey my sincere thanks to Mark & his crew. It would mean so much to them hearing it from you. Thank you for everything! Sincerely, Judy S.
Eric, I think the FCI crew did a great job. I’m impressed by their skills and their willingness to take the initiative in getting things done. I have had several people comment on the looks of the vacant lot after it was leveled and the top soil applied. Please extend my thanks to all those who were involved. Merry Christmas and many thanks, Bill F.
Thanks for the pictures! Love the driveway’s especially the blacktop!! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Earl & Brenda M.
Eric, please let your foreman and crew know they did an excellent job and if you ever need a reference please let us know! Many thanks, Kim & Tony
Eric, thanks for the pics. There was a auto accident in the field next to the house on Saturday and the fire trucks used the new driveway to get to it and it held up great! You guys do a hell of a job! We have had lots of compliments. Thanks, Pat T.
